About Me

Greetings! I am a seasoned and creative leader with over 20 years of domestic and international experience in project management, board administration, operations, and personnel management across various industries. My strategic planning skills include developing project scopes and objectives to ensure the technical feasibility of projects, resulting in successful outcomes. As an articulate communicator, I excel at building and maintaining positive relationships with individuals from diverse backgrounds. In addition to my professional journey, I am currently a full-time graduate student at Harvard University, where I am studying Digital Media Design with a focus on developing technology solutions to support food system redesign. Simultaneously, I am pursuing a didactic program leading to a Master of Science in Applied Nutrition at UNE. My roots trace back to growing up on a small farm, which ignited my passion for sustainable practices and food systems. I've seamlessly transitioned from this agricultural background to spearheading a corporate urban farm while working in the arts, bridging the worlds of tradition and innovation. As a board member with the Savannah Tree Foundation, I actively contribute to the protection and growth of Chatham County's urban forest. Additionally, my commitment to community development led me to join Americorp VISTA, where I currently serve as the Development Manager for the Forsyth Farmers Market in capacity development for the 2023-2024 year. I am on this multifaceted journey to explore the intersection of technology, sustainable food systems, and community development.

Savannah Tree Foundation

I began this project as part of a youth activity that I signed onto in support of the Savannah Tree Foundation. For me, working with STF is more than a service activity it is a passion project. The Savannah Tree Foundation passionately safeguards and nurtures Chatham County's urban forest through tree planting, community engagement, and advocacy. Recognizing trees as vital natural assets with profound impacts, from enhancing economic value to fostering health and climate resilience, STF are dedicated to preserving and expanding this integral part of our environment. Amidst growing challenges such as construction, severe weather, saltwater encroachment, and insufficient funding for maintenance, their mission is to protect and grow the urban forest in Chatham County through tree planting, community engagement and advocacy. By ensuring the well-being of our urban forest, STF helps foster a safer, healthier, more resilient and sustainable community.

Forsyth Farmers' Market

As an Americorp VISTA placed by Step Up Savannah with the Forsyth Farmers Market, I am honored to contribute to their mission of promoting a local food system that champions sustainable production and enhances access to local products. In my role as Development Manager, I focus on capacity building, engaging in grant writing, and creating both print and digital content to support the Market's 12 programs. This opportunity has become a valuable learning experience, allowing me to delve deeper into food systems, especially within low-wealth communities across Coastal Georgia and the Low Country. Working closely with local growers, I gain insights into their needs and challenges, synergizing with my graduate studies in Digital Media Design with focus on technology solutions for food system redesign at Harvard University. One of the current projects being undertaken by FFM that I am involved in developing is addressing food waste in the distribution stream and industrial composting. Together, these experiences propel my commitment to fostering sustainable and equitable food systems.
